Spring and Autumn seasons (March – May and Sept – Nov) are the best time for trekking in Nepal but there are many advantages trekking in winter season (Dec - Feb) in Nepal. It is not possible to trek at higher elevations during the winter season but it is the best time for short treks at lower elevations. The temperatures during the winter season in Nepal is colder during the morning and night but during the day you can enjoy the best clear blue skies as we rarely get rains during the winter in Nepal. Most of the trekking trails with high passes might get close during the winter season because of the snow fall. We will have less trekker during that time as it is consider as low season, there is an opportunity to enjoy the possible short treks in lower elevations as the trails will be less crowded.
As explained above that treks with high passes are not recommended for the winter season. Poonhill trek, Jomsom trek, Royal trek, Annapurna Community treks are the suggested treks for winter season in Annapurna region. Everest panorama trek is also highly suggested winter treks in Everest region. Similarly, Langtang Helambu and Langtang valley treks are also highly recommended treks in Langtang region for the winter period.
