Makalu Base Camp trek is one of the best off the beaten path treks in eastern Nepal. So the Makalu Base Camp trek is the best for those looking for off the beaten path with less trekkers, beautiful nature and amazing mountain and landscape views. Mount Makalu is the world’s fifth-highest mountain and trek to its base camp is an opportunity to experience the beautiful lush rhododendron forests, small villages of Rai, Gurung and Sherpa people, natural river valleys, green pastures and fields and importantly the Makalu Barun National Park. Similarly when we trek higher, we can enjy with some of the best breathtaking panoramic view of the Himalayas, natural lakes, and high passes.

Makalu base camp trekking adventure starts with a flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar in the east of Nepal. From Tumlingtar we take a local jeep to Num and our real trek stasts from here. Being one of the challenging treks in eastern Nepal, Makalu base camp trek itself is well-marked, with a lot of stairs. So Makalu base camp trek is only recommended for the experienced trekkers who are also nature enthusiasts.

Makalu Base Camp is at the height of 5100m and once we are at the base camp, we can enjoy the south face of mount Makalu (8,481m), and a complete panorama of Everest and Lhotse. We can also see the Barun Glacier from the base camp.

Day 03: Fly to Tumlingtar (950m) and drive to Chilchila (1480m).

Day 04: Trek to Num (1500m).

Day 05: Trek to Seduwa (1493m).

Day 06: Trek to Tashigaon (2070m).

Day 07: Trek to Khongma (3560m).

Day 08: Trek to Mumbuk (3550m).

Day 09: Trek to Kehe Kharka (3750m).

Day 10: Trek to Shersong (4600m).

Day 11: Trek to Makalu Base Camp (5000m) and back to Shersong.

Day 12: Trek to Yangle Kharka (3600m).

Day 13: Trek to Mumbuk (3550m).

Day 14: Trek to Khongma (3560m).

Day 15: Trek to Tashigaon (2070m).

Day 16: Trek to Num (1500m).

Day 17: Trek to Chilchila and drive to Tulingtar.

Day 18: Fly back to Kathmandu.

Day 19: Free day in Kathmandu.

Day 20: Final departure.
