Evereest Gokyo-Ri Trekking

Many travellers feel an Everest trek is not complete without the side trip to Gokyo. Though mt. Everest is a comparatively distant peak from Gokyo, the mountain panorama from here is no less spectacular and the natural beauty of the place with its shimmering blue lakes is extraordinary, comparable if not better than that on the main trail.

This is a wonderful trip where you can enjoy all the major spots in Khumbu region. The Gokyo lake, Gokyo Ri which is the allows the most magnificent view of Glaciers round and the panoramic view of highest Himalayas. The 14 days trek in the tallest mountain region of the world provides you an opportunity to explore the treasures of Everest Region. The trip at first includes the landmarks of Everest Region – Namche Bazaar, Sherpa Culture, Buddhist Monasteries, and Himalayan flora and fauna. Besides the trek also encompasses Ngozumba Glacier - the largest of its kind in the Nepal Himalayas, Gokyo valley – famous for a series of turquoise mountain lakes, and Gokyo Ri - one of the most celebrated viewpoints in Everest Region. This trek is especially suitable for those travelers who are eager to experience the grandeur of the Everest range, while avoiding too much physical stress.

Day to day Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu.

    Meet our representative at the airport who will transfer you to the Hotel. Hotel checking-in and go for sightseeing tour. Overnight in Kathmandu.


  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour.

    After breakfast process for the UNISCO Heritage Sightseeing tour. Visit Swyambhunath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Patan city, Khokana Village and after sight-seeing tour, transfer you back to hotel. Overnight Kathmandu.


  • Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla (2,800m) - Phakding (2,652m): 3 - 4 hrs

    In the morning you board for a scenic mountain flight to Lukla - a gateway from where the trek begins. The scenic mountain flight about 35 minutes gives you a perfect sight of tremendous Himalayan Range. From Lukla, the trek begins passing through the stone paved trails towards Bhaisekharka and in due course gets in to Phakding. On the trail you come across plenty of prayer rocks. Overnight at Phakding.


  • Day 04: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (3,440m): 5 - 6 hrs

    Walking through a pine forest, the trail leads you along the Dudh Koshi River. While on the way you encounter with wonderful view of the glistening Mt. Thamserku (6618m). Passing through the settlement of Benkar, Chumoa, Monjo, you reach at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. Next, the trail climbs through the forests and bridges to reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. Prior to reaching in Namche Bazaar, the trail pass through Jorsale Village and while on the trail you will have first sight of Mt. Everest. Overnight in Namche.


  • Day 05: Acclimatization day

    This will be the proper acclimatization day with some excursion around the landmarks of Namche Bazaar – the trading hub of Everest region which is also known as Sherpa Capital. In the center of Namche you can visit the mountaineering museum and spend some quality time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa. Next, you can visit to Sagarmatha National Park headquarter and the Tourist Visitor Centre as well. Beyond the centre of this Sherpa Capital, you can hike to the Everest View Hotel, the ideal place to overview some of the outstanding mountains such as Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse etc. Besides, you can walk around the Khumjung valley, Hillary School and climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche before returning back to Namche. Overnight in Namche.


  • Day 06: Namche Bazzar - Phorse Village (3,810m): 5 - 6 hrs

    The trek begins with enjoying superb views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. While walking in the company of majestic views from the giant Himalayas, you can spot wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or Himalayan Thar along the way. Next, the trial passes through Kayangjuma and Sansa to reach at Mong La Pass (3,975m). The top of Mong La Pass rewards you with the glimpse of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Tawoche and Mt. Khumbila. Then the trail at first descends to Dudhkosi Khola (3250m) and again climbs up to get you to Phorse village. Overnight at Phorse.


  • Day 07: Phorse - Machhermo (4,470m): 5 - 6 hrs

    This section of the trail passes through forests, some waterfalls and bridges at first to get you at Dole - a small place with few teahouses. Next, the trails climbs steadily up through a scenic ridge above Dole. While moving ahead enjoying good views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku. Then the trail takes you through many summer settlements and a charming hamlet of Luza (4,360m). While ascending from Luza, you will be at the Dudh Koshi valley. Walking along the hill side above thundering Dudkoshi, passing through some small hamlets and through sandy spurs, you reach at Machhermo. Machhermo is the last major settlement on the way up to Gokyo. At Machhermo, visit at Himalayan Rescue Hospital to attend a lecture regarding Altitude Sickness. Overnight at Machhermo


  • Day 08: Machhermo - Gokyo (4,720m): 4 - 5 hrs

    Following Dudh Koshi Valley, you commence the trek to Gokyo village. There are excellent views of Cholatse at the village of Pangka (4480m) where you can stop to enjoy them. Next trekking ahead in the high alpine zone you reach at the Ngozumpa Glacier – the largest glacier in Nepal. You still go on trekking enjoying excellent views of Kantega and Cho Oyu (8153m) onto the moraine and rock that extend down from Ngozumpa Glacier. On the way a head, you come across the first signature attractions of this trip - Gokyo Lakes. Longponga, Taboche Tsho and Dudh Pokhari, the three pristine glacial lakes in Everest region, chronologically make you breathless. Gokyo village, your overnight site, stands by Dudh Pokhari - the third lake. Overnight at Gokyo.


  • Day 09: Gokyo - Gokyo Ri (5,357m) - 5 - 6 hrs

    The summit of Gokyo Ri, the top attraction of this adventure, rewards you with the most incredible view of 8,000 meter peaks in Nepal, many adventurer consider it to be Nepal's best. At the top of Gokyo Ri you find surrounded by Cho Oyu (8,153 m), Gyangchung Kang (7,922 m), Lhotse (8,511 m), Makalu (8,475 m), Cholatse (6,440 m), Taweche (6,542 m), Kantega (6,685 m), Thamserku (6,808 m), Lobuche (6,145 m), Mt Everest (8,848 m) and hundreds of other peaks. Whilst below, you will have crystal clear views of the Gokyo Lakes and Ngozumpa Glacier. Next, above the edge of 4th and 5th Gokyo lakes, you can climb at Scoundrel's Viewpoint which is popular for offering panoramic views of Cho-Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Makulu. The northern part of the fifth lake provides fabulous views of Cho-Oyu Base Camp as well. After exploring spectacular treasures of Everest Region descend down to Gokyo Village. Overnight at Gokyo.


  • Day 10: Gokyo to Dole: 3 - 4 hrs

    Make an easy downhill walk along the Dudh Koshi River that emerges out of the Ngozumpa Glacier. The journey passes through the second and the first Gokyo lakes enjoying the company of soaring Cholatse and Taboche peaks. While moving onwards on the meandering trail, you will be at Phangka and the trail leads you towards a Chorten. Next, you make gradual walk downward to sprawling village of Machhermo enjoying the company of beautiful views from Thamserku , Cho Oyu, and Kangtega. Again, passing through the charming hamlet of Luza and Lhafarma you reach at Dole. Overnight at Dole.


  • Day 11: Dole - Namche: 4 - 5 hrs

    Today's journey walks through the abundance of plant and animal vegetation found throughout the trail. The trip at first makes a steep descent to Phortse Tenga and then reaches to Mong La where you will be welcomed by a wonderful place perched on the spur of Mt. Khumbila. While in the return journey do not forget to make a revised look at Taboche, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kangtega, and a distant view of Tengboche. Next the trail leading you towards Namche passes through Sanasa, Kyangjuma and Army Camp Hill. The army camp hill again gives you an opportunity to look back to have the last view of Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche before getting into Namche. Overnight in Namche.


  • Day 12: Namche Bazaar - Lukla: 6 - 8 hrs

    Even if you are trekking in the same trail, you feel traveling in the complete different landscapes. The retreat journey passes through rhododendron and pine forests enjoying snow covered peaks in the distance. Adding to this you walk through the Sherpa villages' noticing impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flags. It will be the day of accomplishment of trekking section of this adventure. Overnight at Lukla.


  • Day 13: Fly Back to Kathmandu

    In the morning, we take the tiny aircraft to flight from Lukla to Kathmandu which is very interesting scenery flight journey on the earth. After arrival in Kathmandu airport we drive you to hotel.


  • Day 14: Departure from Nepal.

    Morning, you will be free. Afternoon we will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport for the departure flight to home.
